| Transformations, Inc. is a residential development and building company located in Townsend, Massachusetts. The company's president is R. Carter Scott. It was incorporated in 1986 and has served over a thousand customers since its start in the contracting field. |
| |
| The company's specialty is sustainable development and green building. Transformations received the Energy Star Custom Builder of the year award at Fenway Park in 2005 (see Awards). Most new homes are now being built to a new Zero-Energy Home platform. These homes are designed to produce as much energy as they consume over a years time. They incorporate solar electric panels (PV) on the roof, a solar hot water heating system, super insulation, air source heat pumps, and a heat recovery ventilation system. |
| |
| Transformations has been chosen to compete in the Zero Energy Challenge program sponsored by the investor owned utilities in Massachusetts. The Solar Today magazine has a feature article in their November/December 2008 issue about the project. The electronic version is available to the right in the News section of this Home Page. The Discovery Channel, Renovation Nation, filmed the project and has shown the half hour segment numerous times.

| Low Impact Development (LID) storm water management techniques have been used in three developments so far. Rain gardens, porous pavers, grass lined swales, wetland detention basins, and bio-retention cells slow down the rate of run-off and mimic the natural hydrology of the region. A forth development project, in Harvard Massachusetts, is in the final approval phase now, and will incorporate LID features. |

| Transformations has participated in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) pilot rating program for the 14 homes in the Townsend Project and a custom home in Acton. Transformations is now piloting a program with Conservation Services Group, called Earth Advantage. |

The vision for the future includes eco villages in various locations. Transformations is open for working with owners of land, desiring to mindfully develop their properties, as well as individuals or groups looking to custom build or add renewable energy to their homes. |
